After a misty weekend, the sun is shining today so what better way to spend a Monday morning than trudging through the leaves in the woods and enjoying everything autumnal.
Croydon might not be regarded as the most desirable place to live, but in our little corner there is plenty to love. We were out for two hours and most of that was off-road through two local woods and a public garden.
There was plenty of autumn colour provided by the trees (especially the acers), a good variety of fungi, various berries and fruits including some late blackberries, and a lovely show of saffron crocuses, after which Croydon gets its name. This website tells you more about the saffron crocus project that is underway in Croydon.
